LARGE-SCALE OUTDOOR MOVING IMAGE PROJECTIONS, THE SHEPPARTON FESTIVAL, SHEPPARTON SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL, YOUTH WEEK CELEBRATIONS
The Shepparton Lure workshops facilitated an interaction between local young people and other community members to explore their township and identity and the ‘relationship that people have to home’. In concept development workshops it was decided to set up a photo booth at key locations around town and the Shepparton community was invited to have their portraits taken and to contribute their definitions of home.
The portraits and text were then combined into a moving image work. The artwork begins with a rainbow. A changing line-up of community members holds a ‘graphic heartbeat’ line, which forms into the words each one had used to describe ‘home’, such as ‘safe place’, ‘a place to belong’, ‘where the people you love are’ and ‘living in a community of good people’.
