POSTCARDS, BANNERS, CONCERTINA POSTCARDS, STICKERS, WALL PAINTING AND 3D PAPER DRESS WITH PROJECTION
Identity was the name given to a series of projects that Visionary Images undertook from 2001 to 2004 while a partner in the Rotary Youth Arts Project (RYAP). This Project brought together a network of community service organisations, youth welfare agencies, local government and arts organisations.
In early 2001, the network developed a program to engage young people with a disability or at risk of substance abuse in the City of Yarra, a municipality in inner Melbourne. These young people were considered hard to engage in more traditional programs and services due to high levels of transience and complex issues such as mental health and drug and alcohol problems.
Four public presentations were held to showcase work young people within each organisation had produced at each stage of the partnership and with each project, the exploration of ‘identity’ deepened.
